New Year’s Eve

There is so much going on in Hartford, CT for New Year’s Eve. Why stay indoors this new year’s eve when you can go out and be apart of this amazing community. We have ice carving, fireworks at Bushnell Park, performances, tons of multi-cultural activities at various venues, the “J Bar Express” and our very own ball drop at Connecticut Children’s.

First Night Hartford
First Night is a celebration of the New Year through the arts. It is an alcohol-free, family-friendly, public celebration that marks the passage from the old year to the new with art, ritual, and festivity. This family-friendly day includes two spectacular fireworks shows in Bushnell Park at 6 PM and 12 AM. For more information and to purchase tickets please visit

J Bar Express and Ball Drop
Be part of history as J Restaurant and Connecticut Children’s kick off the new year by dropping a 6-foot ball from a 110 foot crane. The ball will drop at 6pm and Midnight. Washington Street will be closed off between Lincoln St and Allen Place from 5 pm – 6:30 pm and 11pm – 12:30am.

Hop aboard the FREE “J Bar Express” between 4 pm and 2 am and cruise in style! Ride the trolley from J Restaurant | Bar to Bushnell Park for some free ice skating. Watch the Bushnell Park fireworks from J’s patio and count down to 2020 with our own outdoor ball drop!!
